Review of the Elements of Design

Watch the following video on the Elements of Design.  Imagine you had to explain the elements of design to someone who had never heard of them.  You can show them one picture to give them a better idea of the meaning behind the elements.  What would you draw?

For each of the elements of design, draw a sketch that could serve as a visual definition.  This activity should take approximately 15 minutes.  Focus on showing the essence of each element, not on making your drawings perfect.  When you are finished, put your drawings in your folder.

Review of the Principles of Design

Click here to visit a website that gives a basic overview of the principles of design.

At the bottom of the page, the site's author asks you to compare and contrast works by Mondrian and Haring.  Complete a Quick Write Exercise by spending approximately 5 minutes writing about all of the similarities and differences between the two artworks.  Focus on the elements and principles of design when writing.  Put your response in your folder.
