By completing this project, students will be demonstrating knowledge that relates to the following Standards for Art and Design:

• Strand C: Visual Design and Production
  

                      8.1: Know the elements and principles of design.
                      8.5: Use thumbnail sketches to experiments and start developing visual ideas.

• Strand F: Visual Media and Technology

                      8.7: Develop a working knowledge of media production systems

• Strand I: Personal and Social Development

                      8.7: Work independently and collaboratively to produce ideas and works of art.

Student Learning Objectives

By completing this project, students will meet the following learning objectives:

• Students will recognize and identify the elements and principles of design.
• Students will sketch ideas that fulfill the requirements of their final project.
• Students will design and create an artwork that contains two elements of design and one principle of design.
• Students will support their choices of elements and principles in their artwork by writing a short essay.
